In June 2009 Signs Now were invited to tender for the Campus Signage Project at the University of Teesside.

The tenders were assessed on the basis of 50% design and 50% price, including formal presentations of the proposals, and Signs Now were successful in winning an initial contract of £58,000.

The project followed a re-branding of the University and incorporates the new University logo in all the signage.

The main elements were as follows:

a)      Internally LED illuminated 2.8 metre high logo and aluminium text on 2 faces of the Central Tower building of the Campus. This is one of the most prominent buildings in Middlesbrough and will be the flagship emblem of the University day and night.

b)      Logo, University name and building name on all 14 major Campus buildings in powder coated aluminium with digitally printed logo graphics.

c)      Stainless steel monoliths with built in poster cases for Campus 3D maps at strategic waypoints on Campus.

d)      Aluminium poster cases at strategic points to enable University and Students Union to disseminate information efficiently.

e)       Vehicle graphics on all university vehicles included a full wrap on the 'Park & Ride' bus.

All the signage was designed and built with longevity, low running cost and low maintenance as key objectives in addition to the image and visibility demanded by the new branding project.

Access was a major issue with the Tower sign being erected at a height in excess of 40 metres.

"...the new Campus Signage looks fantastic!"

Chris Walker – Studio Manager

"...we are delighted with the bus…it's just brilliant!"

Sharon Bimson - Assistant Director Marketing & Communications

During the project the University won the “University of the year” award, the first modern University to do so.
